We need a Voice of Reason!...

In a race against time, what the Lebanese Community abroad urgently needs in this day and age, is one "calm", balanced, coherent, eloquent, competent, witty, fiery, passionate and authoritative Voice of Reason... one who can represent and lobby for the interests of our Lebanese Community abroad as he supports, empowers and advertises other Lebanese to defend good Lebanese causes.

For Lebanon's sake, forget about such things as big egos, jealousy and ailing tribal affiliations for a moment...

What the Lebanese Community abroad desperately needs right now is one highly educated, highly learned, well traveled, and well spoken individual, with an open mind, a higher intellectual competence, a great command of the Arabic and the English languages, as well as great familiarity of world languages and cultures... one who is able to masterfully utilize the power of word and eloquent simplicity to frame highly concise and accurate messages on the one hand, and, on the other hand, have the right tools to reach Millions in the Lebanese Community in the four corners of the earth.

Most importantly, what the Lebanese Community needs to do is to find that Voice of Reason and staunchly support him with all means and resources so he can fully focus on his mission to promote and protect Lebanon's interests and empower other Lebanese and step forward... before it is too late for Lebanon.

It is no longer a secret. We ARE in a race against time!...

Who can that Voice of Reason be? Perhaps you? or perhaps someone you know?...Then, in the name of Lebanon, please step forward and take the lead... and we will ALL support you!... .

Fighting for what is RIGHT for Lebanon takes someone with a great sense and deep understanding of the benefits of doing what is right!.... It does not mean going around like a "castrated rooster", in shameful display of mediocrity and duplicity aggravated by nauseating loud verbosity that does nothing more than fuel outdated "tribal" hate mongering and alienating, by sheer ignorance, sincere Lebanese and friends of Lebanon...

It sure as heck does not mean attacking the Syrians and other Arabs in one breath and then in the same breath notice Syrians in the audience and incoherently babble "I love the Syrians"... just because you suddenly remembered that a Syrian or an Arab has helped you when you were down and out...

The Lebanese Community abroad needs a Voice of Reason who will work on unifying and empower the Lebanese and rally them behind preserving Lebanon and "the Lebanese way of Life"... as he projects a calm, positive image of Lebanon... knowing all too well that when all the Lebanese adhere to the "Lebanese way of Life" and well established moral codes and traditions, then what unites us as Lebanese far transcends what separates in religious differences and political affiliations. A Voice of reason that will resound worldwide and reach out to all Lebanese and friends of Lebanon, and will stop in his tracks any person with "Mad cow disease" who will foolishly alienate fellow Lebanese and lovers of Lebanon by his delusion of grandeur and misguided feeling of superiority... let alone his loud rhetoric and hate mongering.

While many good Lebanese, rightly so, have had enough of the antics of the Syrian Regime that has hijacked Syria and Lebanon for over 30 years, that does not give any Lebanese license to be condescending to all Syrians and all Arabs who are genuine friends of Lebanon... nor does it give them a free hand to disingenuously play the "Phoenician" and "Lebanese are not Arabs" cards only when it suits them.

The Lebanese Way of Life

So… what is the Lebanese Way of Life?

Very simple… It is the “Lebanese way of life” that every single Lebanese who has true love for Lebanon and who works only in Lebanon’s best interest knows it in his heart of heart…

It is, the Lebanon of the 60’s… the prosperity… the openness… the freedoms… la joie de vivre… the peace… the stability… and, most importantly, the “delicate” harmonious balance… that is… Lebanon

Every single Arab who has visited Lebanon in peace times has admired the “Lebanese way of Life”…

While in the Arab Gulf, they have their “Khaleeji way of life”, the visitors from the Arab Gulf always admire and cherish the Lebanese way of life and wish it for their respective countries…

The positive influence of Christians on the Lebanese way of life throughout history should be applauded by ALL the Lebanese … not knocked down by anyone… It was the recipe that has given Lebanon that “unique” Lebanese way of life that everyone in the Arab world admires…

Both “genuine” and peace loving Lebanese Moslems and Christians, when given a chance to just be Lebanese and follow their true Lebanese nature and moral code, want to live in Lebanon (not abroad) and enjoy the “Lebanese way of life”…

No true Lebanese want to replace the “Lebanese way of life” with a “Khaleeji way of life”… nor an “Iranian way of life”… nor a “Christian way of life” adopted by the Christian hate-mongers… nor an “Islamist way of life” adopted by the radical islamists … all of which bear absolutely no resemblance to the “Lebanese way of Life”.

More importantly, the Lebanese Christian influence on the “Lebanese way of Life” has historically been “balanced” by the “Lebanese” Moslem influence… not the “Iranian” Moslems… not the “Islamic radical” Moslems… the “Lebanese” Moslems… In fact, in Lebanon’s villages that have stood the test of time, one can witness the enormous similarities between all Lebanese… they all enjoy the serenity of the “Lebanese way of life”… the splendor of our Lebanese nature… the good hearts… the good moral codes… and the sense of a true Lebanese community…

How Sad!... How very Sad!...

It’s time for the Lebanese to Change their Ways

Since Lebanon’s independence in 1943, 95% of the Lebanese have been guilty, in a way or another, of bringing to Lebanon instability, war and destruction….

This is why Lebanon is left today in complete chaos and total disarray…. This is why international powers give themselves unholy license to hold Lebanon hostage to their conflicts as they senselessly ravage Lebanon’s stability, peace, prosperity and harmonious coexistence amongst all Lebanese… Lebanese of all religions and political affiliations who want nothing more than peace and the preservation of the “Lebanese Way of Life”

95% of the Lebanese accuse 95% of the Lebanese of being liars… thieves… scheming… intolerant… quick to judge… quick to anger… destructive… self servicing… non-patriotic… untrue to Lebanon… and refusing to do what is in Lebanon’s best interest…

The sad reality is that all this bears a large extent of the truth…

What Lebanon needs from you as a genuine Lebanese is a “Truthful Promise” to:

Change your ways!...
Go back to the basics of Lebanese moral conduct.. the way your mother and my mother have taught us: Be cordial… be helpful.... smile to strangers…respect everyone…
Adhere, Christians and Moslems, to True Christianity and Islam… Project God’s image!...
Always show the rest of the world genuine respect for… yourself.
Always do what is right…
Do not steal… Do not try to get something for nothing.
Be honest and cling to integrity… Stop making empty promises and employ antics such as “the check is in the mail” …
Do not ask or take anything from other Lebanese without offering something in return
Use words that help not words that hurt
Stop immediately your jealousy, senseless gossip and belittling the work of those who are making a difference in Lebanon’s best interest
Look and admire the total record of a person not be “quick to anger“, curse and stop communicating with someone just because they wronged you once or twice… or you did not like one or two things he said or did.
Start making a difference and showing, by action and financial support not just your empty promises, your true love for Lebanon and work diligently on defending and protecting Lebanon’s best interest
Support the restoration and the empowerment of the “Lebanese Way of Life”… not the “Christian hate-mongers” Way of life… not the “Islamic-radicals” way of life…
Support the complete demilitarization of all militias leaving only the Lebanese Army as the sole legitimate armed force in Lebanon

الحقوق المغتصبة للمرأة اللبنانية - بقلم دنيا

على الرغم من تصاعد حدة الخلافات وتراكم الأزمات المستعصية في لبنان، بما يثير الكثير من الريب والشكوك وإشارات الإستفهام... لا تزال المواضيع الإجتماعية تحتل حيّزاً مهماً من حياة اللبنانيين، بل تسيطر أحياناً على معظم الأحاديث المتداولة بين المواطنين لما تحويه القوانين اللبنانية من إجحاف وغبن بحق المرأة اللبنانية، ولما تنطوي عليه تلك القوانين من تمييز بين أبناء الأسرة الواحدة. فكيف يمكن لمجتمع أن يتطور ونصفه مضطهد؟ وكيف يمكن لدولة أن تزرع قيم التحرر والإصلاح والديمقراطية وقوانينها لا تعترف بالمساواة وحق المواطنية بين الرجل والمرأة؟

بالرغم أن المرأة اللبنانية حصلت على حق التصويت في العام 1953، وحققت خطوات كبيرة في مجال تحسين وضعها الإجتماعي والسياسي، إلاّ أن العقبات القانونية والمؤسساتية لتحرير المرأة في لبنان لم تتغير. وكثير من هذه العقبات ذات صبغة طائفية، إذ أن مصير المرأه اللبنانية غالباً ما يحدده الإنتماء الديني. لأن قوانين الأحوال الشخصيه تخضع للمحاكم الدينية، مما يجعل المرأه اللبنانيه غير متساوية الحقوق ليس فقط مقابل الرجل بل أيضاً مقابل النساء من الطائفة الأخرى. على سبيل المثال، النساء الغير مسلمات يحصلن على الميراث ذاته الذي يحصل عليه الرجال، بينما النساء المسلمات لا يحصلن إلاّ على نصف ذلك.

فبالإضافة إلى اللامساواة بين النساء المنتميات إلى مختلف الطوائف، التي يكرّسها نظام لبنان الطائفي، نجد أيضاً أن البنية الإجتماعية تكرّس بدورها نظام الأسرة "الهرمي الذكري"، أي أن الأب عدا عن كونه هو رب الأسرة، فله يعود قرار تحديد هوية وانتماء أبنائه العائلي والديني وفي أغلب الأحيان السياسي.

وإذا كانت تلك الأمور بطبيعتها غير مزعجة في المجتمع اللبناني، إلاّ أن تطور نظام "الهرمي الذكري" شجع على حرمان المرأة اللبنانية من حقوقها المواطنية. أي أنه لا يحق للمرأة اللبنانية المتزوجة من أجنبي أن تمنح جنسيتها إلى أولادها، مما يخلق العديد من المشاكل إذا قررت الأسرة أن تعيش في لبنان، بما في ذلك الحاجة إلى الحصول على الإقامة وتصاريح العمل. بينما في المقابل، فإن الرجال الذين يتزوجون من نساء أجنبيات يستطيعون تلقائياً نقل جنسيتهم إليهم، فضلاً عن هويتهم الدينية، لأطفالهم.

إن مسألة الجنسية هي أوضح مثال على فداحة التمييز في حقوق المواطنية بين الرجل والمرأة في لبنان، لأن الجنسية تحدد من يحق له أن يتمثل في الحكم، أي في الإنتخابات والإستحقاقات الإجتماعية... وإذا كان القانون ينص على أن "المواطن" هو الشخص المولود من أب لبناني، فذلك يؤكد أن الدولة تعتبر أن الرجال هم فقط "مواطنون حقيقيون".

إن هذا القانون سبب معاناة هائلة للنساء المتزوجات من غير اللبنانيين وأسرهم. فتلك الأسر تعاني قدراً كبيراً من الحرمان وانعدام الأمن والإستقرار...أطفالهم المولودين في لبنان وأقاربهم وأصدقائهم كلهم في لبنان، ولكن لا يحق لهم أن يشعروا بالأمن والإنتماء لأنهم غير مقبولين كلياً، ولا يحق لهم أن يتمتعوا بكامل حقوقهم السياسية والإجتماعية كلبنانيين. وهم بالتالي يعتبرون أجانب. فضلاً عن اضطرار أبناء المرأة المتزوجة من أجنبي الحصول على تصاريح الإقامة، والتي تحتاج إلى تجدد بانتظام. ويحرمون أيضاً من الإستفادة من إعانات الدولة، مثل الرعاية الصحية والتعليم المجاني. ويعاملون معاملة الطلبة الأجانب في المدارس والجامعات، ويواحهون القيود الصارمة في مجالات العمل المتنوعة.

لذلك نجد أن المتزوجات من غير اللبنانيين، يخضعن لضغوط نفسية بسبب الصعوبات التي تواجههن، وهذا ما دفعهن إلى بناء تحالفات مع المنظمات الخاصة المحلية والإقليمية والعالمية، التي بدورها قامت بخطوات استراتيجية لضمان حق المرأة، بدءاً بالبحوث العلمية لتقييم حجم المشكلة، وتوعية الناس على هذه المسألة، وصولاً إلى تقديم المساعدة القانونية للمرأة المتزوجة من أجنبي إلى رفع دعاوي أمام المنظمات العالمية.

والجدير ذكره أن تلك المساعي والتحالفات قد أدت إلى نتائج فعّالة خارج لبنان، فها هن النساء في الجزائر نجحن في إصلاح قانون الجنسية، وقد سمح للمرأة الجزائرية بمنح جنسيتها لزوجها وأطفالها. وكذلك الأمر في مصر حيث فازت المرأة بمنح الجنسية لأطفالها فقط. أما في لبنان فإن الدعوى إلى إصلاح قوانين الجنسية ما زال قائماً، ولا تزال العقبات الرئيسية الثلاث التالية تشكل عقبة أمام تحقيق المساواة وهي:

أولاً- لا توجد إرادة سياسية لتعديل القانون لأسباب تتعلق بالتغيير الديمغرافي.

ثانياً- الإفتراض الجدلي، المتعلق بمشروع تسوية ما بين قانون الجنسية وتوطين الفلسطنيين.

ثالثاً: الجدل القائم حول عدم التمييز بين الجنسية والنسب.

ومهما قيل في هذا الموضوع فإن القضية الحقيقية تكمن بتركيبة لبنان الطائفي، والخوف من التغيير بسبب جهل نتائج "المساواة في الجنسية" على مستقبل المجتمع اللبناني. أما المسائل الأخرى فهي مجرد حجج سياسية سخيفة تستعمل لدى إثارة موضوع حق المرأة في الجنسية.

وإذا لم يقتنع اللبنانيون شعباً ودولة ومؤسسات ومرجعيات دينية بحق المرأة ككائن إنساني له كامل الحقوق وعليه كامل الواجبات مثلها مثل نظيرها الرجل، فذلك يعني إقرار المجتمع اللبناني بأن المرأة اللبنانية هي مواطنة من الدرجة الثانية، وهذا ما لن نقبله، لأننا نؤمن بالمساواة ولا نريد أن يبقى هذا الموضوع وصمة عار على جبين لبنان.
