An informal Lebanese get
together On April 14, 2007, 15-20 good Lebanese of all ages got together at the Issa's home in Ocean County, NJ and we all had a great time socializing and enjoying each other's company and the good food prepared by Tante Soumayyah. We all had great social bonding, engaging conversation, and a heartwarming exchange of great ideas. What made this Lebanese get together interesting is that the Issa's are a wonderful Shi'aa family from Tyre... and they are from different political views than mine... While I take enormous pride in being a Christian, I was touched by the honor, self-respect and piety such a wonderful Lebanese family had for their good faith without being fanatic nor offensive to mine, while being wonderful Lebanese friends with open hearts and minds. I felt like being in family with such welcoming and down to earth Lebanese men and women of great substance... Reda, almost 18, is a brilliant young man who is already in College studying medicine with a full scholarship and on the Dean's Honor list On Easter Sunday, he called me to wish me a Happy Easter and, with a true sense of Lebanese community abroad and unmistakable dignity and unity, he invited me to be part of their family... a family that does not require DNA relation. Reda, rightly so, made it to our Handsome Lebanese men section.
