		Arab-Americans The True Cross-cultural Ambassadors An article by "The Voice of Reason" So... we take pride in being patriotic Arab-Americans as we work diligently on preserving and celebrating our Lebanese, Phoenician and Arab Heritage!... But as Arab-Americans, how much responsibility are we taking, and how much difference are we actually making in the safety and security of America and the cause of Freedom? Let me be the one to break this to you... The world, as is, is at a precipice... with Islamic and Arab radicals terrorizing the world... with instability in Lebanon... and with a sense of insecurity the world over... Unless every one of us takes proactive action to conquer evil, the evildoers at the precipice will have a free hand to serve that final push into Armageddon!... The truth I tell you… As Arab-Americans, we have a unique power, a unique opportunity, and an obligation to be the voices of reason in the Arab World... to be fair.... and, most importantly, to be responsible in everything we say about America.. We have an exceptional opportunity to launch a strategic Public Relations campaign that will masterfully counter the hatemongering "loud" messages of radical Islamists, and uplift the image and the standing of moderate Arabs and Moslems in the world community. As Comedian Maz Jobrani wittingly put it, there is always that one feeble minded lunatic who is always on TV and in your face barking senselessly "Death to America!". Remaining silent and allowing that one chump to be your Ambassador to the World is doing great injustice to you, to the Arab cause and to the Moslem cause. It is the duty of each patriotic Arab-American and lover of freedom to be a Cross-cultural Ambassador in the Arab and Moslem worlds... and “tell the truth” about America to counter the deceptive propaganda machine and hatemongering venom spewed by the radical Islamists and terrorists.... not gossip and senselessly speculate about some imaginary, "unfounded" and non-existent American conspiracy against Moslems and Arabs!... All this lies in our simple conviction, as Arab-Americans, that America is us, and that America is not the Big Satan as the radical Islamists and the Arab terrorists -- the consummate spin doctors -- have successfully painted her for decades… and that, unfortunately, so many poor, feeble-minded, and deprived Arabs and Moslems in the Middle East fall easy victims to their brainwashing, fabrications, half-truths, lies and hate mongering… It then follows by educating all good Arabs and Moslems about such Truth. Why look for an unsubstantiated, delusional and non-existent American conspiracy against the Arab and Moslem world, when the Truth is self-evident in just a few examples that we see unfold in front of our very eyes? In 1991, when Saddam Hussein ruthlessly ravaged Kuwait, America flew across the miles to “fight for what is right!”… She swiftly defeated Saddam and was at the outskirts of Baghdad. Did she continue to “occupy” Kuwait and Iraq, and hog their oil reserves as real occupiers and imperialists do? NO!... After its mission of "good" was completed, America pulled out her troops and went home… leaving minimum presence at the pressing request of Gulf Arab countries to help protect good Arabs and Moslems in the Middle East… The concise, comprehensive and effective message that Arab-Americans must deliver to the Arab and Moslem worlds is that America is not an occupying or an imperialist force that is interested in hogging oil. She is a liberator, promoter of the cause of Freedom and a defender of what is right. America, to date, still gives away billions of dollars in financial assistance and other foreign aid to Arab and Moslem countries around the globe. How can any fair and reasonable person say that America is anti-Arab or anti-Moslem? It is your responsibility as an Arab-American to highlight the good deeds of America in terms that the Arabs and Moslems in the world can understand!... After 9/11, America went to war against the terrorists in Afghanistan… and what else did she do?… America took “food” for the Afghanis… How many other countries go to war with such a divine-inspired act of kindness? Is that the work of a Big Satan? Absolutely Not!... Be fair, be responsible and educate fellow Arabs and Moslems everywhere!... America does not want war!.... but when war is imposed on her, and unlike the terrorists, when America goes to war, she publicly announces the war, and she works very hard, sometimes at higher risks than necessary, to minimize civilian casualties… What do the treacherous terrorist mules do?... They live life like rodents in caves until they blow themselves up targeting civilians… the cowards!... I once said, and I repeat for the sake of levity at this juncture!... A treacherous terrorist mule who blows himself up and kills innocent people is never a martyr... He is just a murderer. He will not have 70 vestal virgins waiting for him. He will have a special "hot" place for him with 70 hardened criminal dudes who blew themselves before him... None of us U.S. citizens has all the parameters… so none of us has the right to judge based on incomplete facts!... America went to war in Iraq to be proactive in its war against terror… Was is perfect? did it turn out the way it was intended to be? No!... But there were so many unknowns and someone needed to make a decision then!… Hindsight is always 20/20. Protecting America and the world did not allow us the luxury of staying home and “praying” that the terrorists will just go away... or just be “nice” and never ever use Iraqi or other resources to attack us… At that time, the price of inaction was far greater than the price of proactive action… America then had no choice but to err on safety’s side… More importantly, let’s not forget America’s sincere vision of liberating a country that was terrorized for decades by a merciless tyrant and his ruthless children… America’s sincere vision was to give the Iraqis a chance to live life in Freedom, Democracy and dignity… and go home after paving the way to create a prototype for future democracies in the Arab world. Why blame America after we all found out that Ahmed Al Chalabi who was globally perceived as "Iraq's hope for a good leader" after Saddam, did not deliver what the world community expected of him?... Why blame America for the shortcomings of Nouri Al Maliki? America has that backbreaking responsibility of stabilizing an entire country of 27 Million and transition it from decades of dictatorship into democracy. All the terrorist mules have to do is blow themselves up and cause death and havoc to tens of thousands. Although every human life is precious, that is is far less than 0.01 % ratio.... I don't blame America for the instability of Iraq... I blame the Islamic radicals and the terrorists... So should ALL patriotic Arab-Americans!... Let's get it right first before we are able to educate fellow Arabs and Moslems.... Why blame America for not providing stability to ALL of Iraq instead of blaming Iran, Syria and Al-Qaeda for causing the instability of Iraq? Of course, there were miscalculations… The war against terror is a brand new warfare the like of which the world has never seen before… Of course, it is so easy for people, without giving any tested or effective solutions, to shoot their mouths and criticize without having all the parameters rather than take full responsibly, and make timely decisions to protect America!... What we need to do as patriotic Arab-Americans is to educate and “tell the truth” about America to fellow Arab and Moslems in the Arab and Moslem worlds in words and simple concepts they can understand… Non Arab-Americans have obviously been unable to fully understand the inter-cultural differences and similarities between the Arabs and the Moslems on the one hand... and the West on the other hand. We, Arab-Americans, need to send a concise and comprehensive message, with one voice, denouncing all terror... all incitements... and all “radical Islamists” and anti-American hatemongering…. We need to tell the Imams in mosques all over the world to “tell the truth” about America not fuel senseless anti-American sentiments… We need to send a clear message to Hizballah to completely disarm in the best interest of Lebanon, fully support the legitimate Lebanese Army, and support the "Lebanese way of life"... something the absolute majority of "good" Lebanese Shi'aa really want... not promote the Iranian way of life... nor the Islamist way of life. We need to send a clear message to the Lebanese Sunnites to preserve the "Lebanese way of life"... something the absolute majority of "good" Sunni Lebanese really want... not the "Shari'ah" style Saudi Way of Life... nor the luxury "cave-resorts" of radical Islamists. We need to send a clear message to the Lebanese Christians to unite and preserve the "Lebanese way of life"... not call for more Christian militarization in Lebanon that alienates moderate Sunni and Shi'aa and fuels another senseless civil war.... We need to urge good Arabs and Moslems to start calling the "soft spoken" and charming hatemongering snakes of radical Islam by their true label: "con-artists". What truly matters, in the end, is that every "good" Lebanese wants nothing short of a peaceful, neighborly and prosperous life in Lebanon with dignity and harmony with everyone else... possibly lazing on a Sunday afternoon... under a tree, enjoying the beautiful breeze of the Mediterranean waters... or the fresh air of Lebanon's majestic mountains and hills... Before anyone becomes a cheerleader to some misguided Arabs and Moslems who protested violently when the Pope made one statement taken out of context, we need to encourage good Arabs and Moslems to march in large numbers in the Arab and Moslem worlds every single time a terrorist mule blows himself up to kill people... and every time Osama Bin Laden sends a boring, gloating, or hatemongering video from a smelly cave... Our powerful and unified messages will resound all over the Arab and Moslem world and will let everyone know that we will no longer tolerate terrorism, instability, hatemongering, lies and deception in the name of God, in the name of Islam or in the name of Arabism. This way the "good" Arabs of all religions and the good Moslems will prevail over the terrorist Arab doctrines and the radical Islamist evildoers... and America's message of hope, democracy and freedom will be effectively delivered through us, Arab-Americans, in a way that it can be uniquely welcome and understood in the Middle East.

		الأميركيون من أصل عربي سفراء وصل بين الشرق والغرب نحن كأميركيين من أصل عربي نفتخر بانتمائنا وإخلاصنا الوطني للبلد الذي احتضننا، كافتخارنا واعتزازنا بجذورنا وتراثنا اللبناني الفينيقي والعربي. ولكننا كعرب أميركيين، ما هو حجم المسؤولية التي ألقيناها على عاتقنا بل الواجبات التي شاركنا فيها؟ وما هو الفرق الفعلي الذي سجلناه في أهداف الأمن الوطني الأميركي وقضية الحرية في العالم؟ في الحقيقة... كأميركيين من أصول عربية، لدينا تأثير كبير وقوة لا يستهان بها، وفرصة نادرة لنثبت بأننا الصوت العربي العاقل والمعقول... والأهم من ذلك لنؤكد بأننا الصوت الحكيم العادل الواعي المنفتح والمسؤول. الظرف العالمي إستثنائي، والفرصة المتاحة أمامنا إستثنائية وفريدة كي نثبت بأننا قادرون على العمل أفراداً ومجموعات، قادرون على توظيف طاقاتنا ومهاراتنا وعلاقاتنا العامة من إجل مكافحة تلك الحملة البغيضة والمقززة التي أطلقها المتطرفون الإسلاميون، ونحصن مكانة العرب والمسلمين المعتدلين في المجتمعات العالمية. وقد أشار ماز جبراني (كوميدي أميركي من أصل إيراني) إلى ذلك بموقف كوميدي: "نشاهد دائماً على التلفزيون ذلك الرجل المجنون الذي يصرخ دائماً وبلا شعور "الموت لأميركا"". فإن صمتكم هو بمثابة السماح والموافقة من قبلكم أن يكون ذلك الرجل سفيركم إلى العالم، فذلك لن يجلب شيئاً سوى الظلم لكم ولقضيتكم العربية والإسلامية. فمن واجب كل مواطن عربي-أميركي أن ينقل حضارة بلده الأول إلى أميركا، وأن يلعب دور الوسيط بين الثقافتين الأصلية والمكتسبة، وأن يعي أيضاً أهمية دوره ومسؤوليته لدى زيارة الوطن الأم، بأن ينقل بأمانة وصدق الصورة الحقيقية عن أميركا... لأننا في ذلك نساهم في تخفيف سياسة الكره والحقد والدعاية المضللة والإشاعات السامة التي تبثها الجماعات الراديكالية الإسلامية الإرهابية لتنفيذ مآربها الحاقدة تحت ستار التصدي "للمؤامرة الأميركية". قد يكون من الطبيعي التشكيك بسياسة كل دولة ولكن من المؤكد أن أميركا ليست "الشيطان الأكبر" كما يحاول المتطرفون الإسلاميون والإرهابيون على أنواعهم الترويج لتلك الدعاية، لأننا كعرب أميركيين نرفض تلك النعوت السخيفة والإفتراءات الباطلة التي يقع ضحيتها الكثير من العرب والمسلمين في الشرق الأوسط. فلماذا إذن لا نباشر بتوعية المضللّين من العرب والمسلمين؟... فإن الإصرار على وجود أو استمرار نظرية "المؤامرة الأميركية" لا يفيد ولا يجدي نفعاً، فإن كانت حقيقة فلنفضحها، وإن كانت وهماً وخيالاً فلماذا ندمر أنفسنا بأيدينا؟ فأميركا لا يوجد لديها نية باحتلال الشرق الأوسط، والأمثلة على ذلك كثيرة: - ففي العام 1991، عندما إجتاح الرئيس العراقي السابق صدام حسين دولة الكويت، دافعت أميركا عن الدولة المستضعفة وأجبرت صدام حسين على الإنسحاب، ولم تجتاح بغداد علماً أنها كانت على بعد أميال منها. وبعد… لم تتصرف أميركا كدولة أمبريالية، ولم تفرض سيطرتها لا على الأرض ولا على النفط، إنما تركت بعض القواعد العسكرية وذلك بناء على طلب الدول التي تواجدت فيها ومن أجل حمايتها. - لا زالت أميركا حتى الآن تعطي البلايين من الدولارات كمنح مالية وغيرها من المساعدات للدول العربية والإسلامية في جميع أنحاء العالم. فليس من المنطق أن نصدق مقولة "أن أميركا تحارب العرب والمسلمين". فهذه هي مسؤولية العرب والمسلمين الأميركيين في تسليط الضوء على المساعدات الأميركية لبلدانهم الأم من أجل إيضاح الموقف الأميركي. - بعد 11 أيلول 2001، وعندما قررت أميركا مهاجمة الإرهابيين في أفغانستان، لم ترسل فقط جيشها المصحوب بالمعدات العسكرية بل أرسلت معه المؤن والمواد الغذائية للشعب الأفغاني، فكم دولة في العالم تذهب إلى الحرب بتلك النفسية الإنسانية؟... فهل أن تلك المساعدات نابعة من أفكار شيطانية؟ طبعاً لا! أميركا لا تريد الحرب... ولكن عندما فرضت الحرب عليها، لم تتصرف كالجبناء، بل أعلنت الحرب على الملأ، وتحملت مخاطر إعلانها هذا، لأنها أرادت تقليل المخاطر والإصابات بين المدنيين. وفي المقابل ماذا يفعل الإرهابيون؟ فهم يعيشون مثل القوارض في الكهوف حتى أنهم لا يتوانون عن تفجير أنفسهم مستهدفين المدنيين الأبرياء... إنهم حقاً جبناء، جبلوا بالغش والخداع! قلت في مقالات سابقة وسأقول ثانية، إن الإرهابيين الغدّارين الذين يفجرون أنفسهم ويقتلون أرواحاً بريئة لا يمكن اعتبارهم شهداء...بل مجرد قتلة ومجرمين. وطبعاً لن يصلوا إلى الجنة التي وُعدوا بها ليحصل كل منهم على 70 عذراء طاهرة، فلن يجد نفسه سوى في جهنم "حمراء" مع 70 من المجرمين الآخرين الذين فجروا أنفسهم قبله... غير من المُمكن لأيِّ أحد من المواطنين الأميركيين أن يدّعي أنه يعرف الحقائق كاملة، لذا لا يمكننا أن نحكم على أفعال نجهل دوافعها الحقيقية... أميركا حرّرت العراق لتكون السبّاقة في حربها على الإرهاب...فهل كان ذلك قراراً حكيماً؟ وهل أُنجذت الأهداف المقصودة؟ طبعاً لا!...ولكن في ذلك الحين كان هناك الكثير من الجوانب المجهولة وكان على أحدهم أن يتخذ قراراً، لأن حماية أميركا والعالم لا يسمحان لنا أن نبقى مكاننا "ونتضرع إلى الله" كي يبعد الإرهابيين عنا أو " يلهم الأعداء" كي لا يستخدموا النفط العراقي أو أي موارد أخرى لمهاجمتنا... في ذلك الوقت، ثمن التقاعس كان سيكون باهظاً جداً، وأميركا لم يكن لديها خيار سوى التحرك الإستباقي السريع ومهاجمة الإرهابيين في عقر دارهم لحماية أرضها. والأهم من ذلك، يجب ألاّ ننسى رؤية أميركا الصادقة لتحرير البلد الذي كان يرزح لعقود طوال تحت رحمة طاغية لم يرحم حتى الأطفال من رعبه وشرّه. فقد حرّرت أميركا العراق، وكانت صادقة في وعدها عندما أعلنت أنها أنها ستقدم للشعب العراقي فرصة جديدة للعيش في نظام حر ديمقراطي كريم... وأنها ستجعل من العراق نموذجاً للحكم الديمقراطي في العالم العربي. لماذا نلوم أميركا بعد أن إكتشفنا جميعاً أن أحمد الجلبي الذي كان أمل العراقيين بأن ينقل العراق من الديكتاتورية والفوضى إلى الديمقراطية والحرية والعدالة، تحوّل إلى شخصية غير جديرة بالثقة على الصعيد العراقي قبل الأميركي. كان هدف أميركا أن تؤمن الإستقرار والإطمئنان لوطن يزيد عدد سكانه على 27 مليون نسمة، وتحويله من عقود الظلم والديكتاتورية إلى مرحلة الديمقراطية. ولكن الإرهابيين هم دائماً بالمرصاد لكل عمل بنّاء، فلم يجدوا بديلاً للديكتاتورية سوى الوحشية التي استخدموها في تفجير أنفسهم لإرهاب العراقيين وكل من يتعامل مع الأميركيين. إنني لا ألوم أميركا على عدم إستقرار العراق... إنني أوجه اللوم إلى هؤلاء الراديكاليين الإسلاميين والإرهابيين...وهذا ما يجب أن يفعله كل مواطن عربي أميركي. بالطبع ، كان هناك سوء تقدير... الحرب ضد الإرهاب هي نوع جديد من الحروب لم يشهد العالم مثيلاً له من قبل. وبطبيعة الحال، فإنه من السهل إطلاق العنان للألسن والإنتقادات دون تقدير الحقائق على الأرض وإعطاء الحلول الفعّالة... وبمعنى آخر، فإن الإنتقاد أسهل بكثير من تحمل المسؤولية كاملة عن اتخاذ قرار في الوقت المناسب لحماية أميركا. واجب علينا كمواطنين عرب أميركيين أن نقول الحقيقة عن أميركا ونساعد أهلنا العرب والمسلمين في العالمين العربي والإسلامي، أن يفهموا المقاصد الأميركية الحقيقية في كلمات ومفاهيم بسيطة... نحن بحاجة إلى أن نتحد من أجل توجيه رسالة موجزة وشاملة في الوقت نفسه، نشجب فيها الإرهاب بجميع أشكاله، وسياسة التحريض والكراهية المتبعة من قبل جميع "الراديكاليين الإسلاميين" المعادين لأميركا. واجب علينا أن نقول لأئمة المساجد في السعودية وغيرها... أن يقولوا الحقيقة عن أميركا وأن يكفوا عن تعبئة النفوس بالمشاعر المناهضة لأميركا. وكذلك يجب أن نطلب من القادة الروحيين والمدنيين أن يكفوا عن استعمال الصفات اللينة بحق الإسلاميين الراديكاليين والإرهابيين وأن ينعتوهم بالصفات التي تليق بالمجرمين. وكما يحرض القادة الأصوليون أتباعهم للتظاهر بقوة ضد موقف معين، كما حصل عندما انطلقت التظاهرات الحاشدة ضد بعض ما ورد في محاضرة للبابا بنيدكيت السادس عشر، يجب أن نشجع المعتدلين من العرب والمسلمين، على التظاهر بكثافة والإحتجاج على كل عمل إرهابي أو تفجير إنتحاري يقوم به المتشددون الأصوليون، أو عند إطلاق أي فيلم أو رسالة تحريضية من قبل أسامة بن لادن الذي يقبع في كهفه إن عزيمتنا وموقفنا الثابت ورسائلنا الموحدة سوف تدوي في جميع أنحاء العالم العربي والإسلامي، ويجب أن يفهم الجميع أننا لن نتسامح مع الإرهاب، وعدم الإستقرار، والكراهية والبغض والأكاذيب والخداع التي تطلق باسم العروبة أو الإسلام. ومما لا شك في أن هذه الطريقة سوف تساعد المعتدلين العرب من كل الأديان، والمعتدلين المسلمين، على الإنتصار على الأشرار الفاسقين... وكذلك سوف ينتصر الحلم والأمل الأميركي في نشر الديمقراطية والحرية في الشرق الأوسط، وذلك من خلالنا نحن كعرب أميركيين لأننا الوحيدون القادرون على تفعيل المبادرة الأميركية في الشرق الأوسط.
